Heike Paul is giving a talk on Barbra Streisand and her history of singing to American presidents, discussing how this relates to civil sentimentalism and to her own sentimental activism. The talk (in German) is given in context of a workshop by the Hamburg Institute for Advanced Studies (HIAS) titled "Passions of Thought: Opportunities and Limits of a Constitution," which also includes contributions by Elisabeth Bronfen (University of Zurich and New York University) , Christine Lötscher (University of Zurich), and Cornelia Zumbusch (Hamburg University).
